What it does have are historic paddle steamers on Lake Geneva, which leave from the quays by the Jardin Anglais, and a good road to the Mediterranean ports of Marseille and Genoa. The cruise terminals at Cap Janet sit north of the old port, and we confirm the berth with your cruise line before the day. The fixed fare covers the full distance, including the autoroute tolls on the French side. The autoroute through the Rhone valley is fast, but summer holiday Saturdays can fill it, and we adjust the timing.
Genoa is reached through the Mont Blanc tunnel and Aosta or over the Simplon, depending on conditions, and it is a long transfer which we price as an intercity trip. Savona and Civitavecchia need overnight planning. We recommend an early start and a comfortable margin, because a missed embarkation cannot be made up by driving faster. Embarkation deadlines are firm, which is why we plan to arrive several hours before the ship leaves, not minutes.
Many guests add a few days in Geneva or the Alps before sailing. We coordinate airport pickup, hotel transfers and the ride to the port, and can arrange luggage in advance so the final leg is light. If a ski week precedes the cruise, we plan the mountain descent so that the road to the coast is not rushed. The same driver can wait during a ski week if you wish, so the SUV is ready for the coast transfer.
