Ibiza is a small island with a very large summer. The airport sits ten minutes from Ibiza Town, the beaches of the south and west are never more than half an hour away, and yet the same short roads can lock solid on a Saturday afternoon or after midnight near Playa d'en Bossa. Our chauffeurs know the back lanes, the villa gates and the pickup points that actually work. You book one SUV, one fixed all-inclusive price and a driver who is already watching your flight.
Ibiza airport lies about seven kilometres south-west of the old town, and in July and August it handles a flood of arrivals at weekends as villa and hotel stays change over. The terminal forecourt, the car-hire queues and the single road toward the town can all jam at once. Your chauffeur waits in arrivals with a name board, has your luggage in the boot within minutes and chooses between the main road and the quieter back approach according to what he can see on the day.
The walled upper town, Dalt Vila, is closed to most traffic and rises above a harbour of narrow streets, so hotels there work from agreed set-down points at its foot. The Marina Botafoch, on the eastern edge of the harbour, receives yachts, owners and crew at all hours and is reached by a wide approach road. We tell you in advance where the SUV will stop and who will carry the bags the last stretch uphill.
Playa d'en Bossa, south of the town, is where the large daytime clubs and a long strip of hotels sit, and after dark the road behind the beach turns into a slow crawl. The same applies on the approach to Sant Antoni in the west, where the sunset bars and the resort clubs add to the congestion. Chauffeurs hold at agreed pickup points off the strip, usually a side road or hotel entrance, so you walk to the car and are not hunting for it in a crowd.
A great many guests stay not in a hotel but in a rented villa up a single-track lane near Sant Josep, Es Cubells or Santa Gertrudis. Many of these have gate codes, steep drives and neighbours who dislike headlights at 3 am. We confirm the exact address and the access instructions with the owner or manager before the arrival, and the chauffeur knows which approaches can take an SUV and which need a short walk from a lay-by.
The south-west coast around Cala Jondal, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte carries the beach clubs, and the roads to them are narrow, shared with scooters and lined with parked cars by midday. For Formentera, the ferries leave from the harbour in Ibiza Town, about ten minutes from the old town, and we can bring you to the quay with luggage.
The island has two lives. From May to early October it is crowded, hot and loud, with traffic that ignores the clock.
