Corporate travel in NiceThe A8 is quick; the corniches are scenic but slow in summer. We choose by purpose, using the motorway when you have a flight or a meeting and the coast road when you want views. Both towns have restricted central streets, so the drop point is agreed in advance. In July and August, the Monaco road is busiest between four and seven in the evening, so earlier or later departures are calmer.
The final approach is notorious for jams in high season. We leave early or late to avoid the worst, and suggest a drop point away from the port when the village is packed. A return in the evening may also be slower than you expect, so we plan margin.
Across the border via the Italian motorway, Genoa is a comfortable run for onward travel or cruise embarkation. Border formalities depend on your documents, so please carry your passport. We can also drive to Sanremo and Portofino for a day, with the fare agreed in advance.
The hinterland of Nice is full of hilltop villages, including Eze, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Gourdon. Winding roads and narrow lanes make a chauffeur worthwhile, and parking is difficult in high season. We plan the order of stops so you see the best villages when the light and the crowds are kind.
The A8 runs high above the coast with long tunnels and views of the sea. It is quick but can stop after an incident. The lower roads run through Villefranche, Beaulieu and Cap-d'Ail, and are slower but more attractive.
