North of Oslo, the E6 follows the shore of Lake Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake. Hamar, with its Viking ship-shaped skating hall, and Lillehammer, which hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics, are the usual stops. The Maihaugen open-air museum in Lillehammer is a highlight. We plan the drive with a break at the lakeside, and the chauffeur waits at the ski jump or the museum entrance. In winter, the road is cleared quickly but can be icy.
