Intercity & Long Distance in Monaco, priced up front

Monaco sits on a narrow coastal strip with the A8 above and the Corniche roads below. Nice is thirty minutes west, Italy fifteen minutes east, and the rest of the Riviera strings out on either side. A chauffeured SUV goes door to door with luggage, with a fixed fare for each route.

Where we take you

Monaco stays, venues and days out

  • the Casino de Monte-Carlo
  • Port Hercule
  • the Grimaldi Forum

During the Grand Prix and the Yacht Show the principality closes to non-accredited vehicles; we arrange access passes or set down at the Monaco border and shuttle in.

Occasions and events in Monaco

West to Nice, Cannes and Saint-Tropez

The A8 reaches Nice in about thirty minutes, Cannes in around an hour and Saint-Tropez in two or more, with summer weekends adding substantial delay. The final run into Saint-Tropez by the D98 can crawl. We recommend early starts and tell you the realistic duration for your day.

East to Menton and Italy

Menton is ten minutes away and the Italian border follows. Sanremo and the Ligurian coast, with Genoa two hours beyond, are good for day trips. Passports are required, and we confirm documents for any cross-border run. Italian Sundays can be slow on the coast road.

Up into the hills

Èze, Gourdon, Gréolières and the Grasse perfume country are all within an hour or so. Hill roads narrow quickly, and a larger SUV copes well with bends and with passing. We plan a lunch stop and a return before dusk.

Milan, Turin and the Alps

Milan is about three and a half hours; Turin around three; the Alpine ski stations a few hours more. Winter trips need chains in places and an experienced driver. We advise honestly on departure times and alternatives if the weather is poor.

Traffic rhythm on the coast

The Riviera follows a seasonal rhythm. July and August bring the heaviest traffic, with Friday afternoon and Sunday evening the worst. Off-season, the same journeys halve. The fare is fixed whichever time you choose.

Italy's Ligurian coast and the border

Crossing into Italy is almost invisible, but the coastal road through Ventimiglia can queue badly on summer weekends, and the A10 towards Genoa has tunnels and works. We recommend inland alternatives when the coast is blocked and warn you if a Saturday morning departure risks a long delay. Passports travel with you, and the chauffeur confirms your documents before leaving.

Sunday restaurants and the hinterland

Many guests combine a journey with a long Sunday lunch in a hillside village such as Gourdon or Peille. We plan the departure and the return around the table, with no rush.

Fuel, tunnels and speed cameras

The A8 and the Italian autostrada have long tunnels and active speed enforcement. Our chauffeurs drive within limits, plan fuel in advance and keep to a smooth pace for passenger comfort.

FAQ

Intercity & Long Distance in Monaco — questions

How long is the drive from Monaco to Cannes?

About an hour on the A8, longer in summer traffic or after an accident. We include a margin when setting the pickup time.

Can you take us to Saint-Tropez?

Yes. Allow two hours or more in summer. We recommend an early departure and quote the fare as a fixed amount.

Is a car better than the train along the coast?

The coastal train is quick station to station, but a car goes door to door with luggage and reaches villas and hill villages the train does not.

Are tolls included in the price?

Yes. The fare is all-inclusive, covering fuel, motorway tolls and parking, with no meter and no surcharge for traffic.
