Intercity & Long Distance in Venice, priced up front

Venice sits at the eastern end of the Po plain, with the A4 motorway running west towards Padua, Verona and Milan and east towards Trieste and Slovenia. The Dolomites are two hours north. A chauffeured SUV avoids the rail station dance and goes door to door, with a fixed fare for each route.

Where we take you

Venice stays, venues and days out

  • Piazza San Marco
  • the Venice Lido
  • Murano

No vehicle reaches the historic islands: road transfers end at Piazzale Roma or the Marittima terminal, and the last leg is by water taxi, which we arrange alongside the SUV.

Occasions and events in Venice

West along the A4

Padua is thirty to forty minutes away, Verona about an hour and a half and Milan around three hours. The A4 is among the busiest roads in Italy, with frequent works and truck traffic. We watch live conditions and choose between the motorway and alternatives. Friday evening is the heaviest.

North to the Dolomites

Cortina d'Ampezzo is about two hours away via Belluno, with the road rising through valleys and past the Piave. Winter brings snow, closures and chain requirements, so we advise honestly on departure times. The mountain roads are better in an SUV with an experienced driver.

East to Trieste and beyond

The A4 east leads to Trieste in about two hours and on to Slovenia and Croatia. Cross-border trips need passports and we confirm documents beforehand. Many guests combine a Trieste stop with a coffee at Piazza Unità.

Bologna, the Adriatic and the south

Bologna is about two hours south-west, while Ravenna and the Adriatic coast are shorter. Weekend traffic to the beaches in July and August can double travel times. The fare stays fixed whatever the traffic does.

Weather and fog

Autumn and winter fog on the plain can cut visibility on the A4 and slow trucks to a crawl. The chauffeur adjusts speed and timing, and calls the desk if a change in plan is needed.

Lunch in Padua, Treviso or Verona

The best intercity trips include a meal. Padua offers the Prato della Valle and its cafés, Treviso a canalside osteria and Verona the Piazza Bra. The chauffeur suggests a stop based on your route and the hour, books nothing without asking, and parks close enough that you can walk to lunch. Ask us to plan a stop and it becomes part of the timetable.

Mountain days and the Olympic roads

The Dolomites road network around Cortina has been rebuilt and extended for the 2026 Winter Olympics, and works or diversions may remain. We check the current situation before every mountain trip, tell you what to expect and advise on winter tyres and chains. Weekend skiers can double journey times on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings, so we recommend midweek departures where your schedule allows.

FAQ

Intercity & Long Distance in Venice — questions

How long is the drive from Venice to Milan?

Around three hours on the A4, depending on traffic and works. We include margin when setting your pickup time.

Can you take us to Cortina d'Ampezzo?

Yes. The journey takes about two hours in normal conditions, longer in snow, and is priced as a fixed fare.

Is a car better than the train to Verona?

Trains are quick between stations, but a car goes door to door with luggage, which helps if your destination is a villa or winery.

Are tolls included in the price?

Yes. The fare covers fuel, motorway tolls and parking, with no meter and no surcharge for traffic.
